Once upon a time, humans only dreamt of the stars, but in today’s world we aspire and work towards a future where we can visit and one day live amongst them! The space industry has been growing and investment firms such as Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley predict the industry will be a TRILLION dollar industry in the next 30 years!

Speaker Profile
Mr. Merali is a Project Management Engineer with the Canadian Space Agency‘s (CSA) Enterprise Project Management Office where he works with teams to implement project governance for prudent management of corporate investments. He also contributes to lunar systems engineering activities such as the international Lunar Gateway program alongside NASA. Prior to joining CSA, Tahir worked across aerospace, energy & automotive industries, including as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the Canadian Space Commerce Association (CSCA), formerly Canada’s trade association for space. He has presented innovative strategies to Fortune 500 executives. As an astronaut instructor he developed and delivered training for crew on International Space Station (ISS) systems and operations, and reported on the nanosatellite market as a business analyst with a Dutch start-up. He has spent time at facilities in Canada, Europe, Russia & the United States and has presented work in 8+ nations. Tahir offers unique perspectives having spent 10 minutes in “weightlessness” aboard a parabolic flight and developed 2 microgravity life-science experiments that have flown aboard the ISS. He is a strong advocate for space awareness and education, and has been peer-review published alongside several conference proceedings and panels. He has been recognized across industries by superiors & peers for excellence and leadership. In 2018, he was awarded globally as a Top 35 Under 35 of the space industry, selected by a panel of industry movers & shakers for his achievement, dedication, outreach and contribution to the space business. Tahir is a graduate of the International Space University (M.Sc Space Management) and the University of Toronto (B.A.Sc Mechanical Engineering). He is a licensed professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), and is a PADI-licensed Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver. Tahir was ranked qualified (Top-163) in the 2016 Canadian Astronaut Recruitment Campaign. Follow him @kulfispace!

Ahmad Noordin has 20 years of HR operations experience owning and leading transformational initiatives at various Fortune 500, Fortune’s 100 Fastest-Growing, not-for-profit and private organizations.

In his current role at Ulta Beauty, Ahmad leads a large team responsible for design and delivery of practical, innovative HR solutions and actionable people analytics to improve employee experience, equip business leaders, and drive organizational performance impacting ~40,000 employees in 1,200 stores, distribution centers, and offices.

Ulta Beauty is a Fortune 500 company run by Mary Dillion, Fortune’s 2018 Businessperson of the Year and Chicago’s 25 Most Powerful Women 2018. Dillon says gender diversity has been a driving force behind Ulta’s success. Half of the executive team is women and 50% of the directors on Ulta’s board are women.

IPN Women’s Alliance : Application Deadline is Tuesday, April 2nd 2019 -The IPN Women’s Alliance Success Mentors Program

The IPN Women’s Alliance Success Mentors program aims to group the right individuals together so that mentors become enablers of success.

EXPECTATIONS:
The commitment entails two hours each month for twelve months.
Communication with your mentors/mentees can be in person, on the phone, and/or through free apps such as Skype or Google Hangout.

EXPECTED OUTCOME FOR MENTEES:
– Gain qualitative and subjective counselling and be inspired by your mentor to believe you are capable of producing, executing and achieving.
– Learn through experience and observation, often sidestepping obstacles and hurdles due to your mentor’s willingness to gift experience and tangible, transferable advice.
– Define and set long-term goals with appropriate steps to realize those goals.
– Gain a support system of other professional women in the jamat
– Insight into industries and experiences based on experiences of others in your circles

EXPECTED OUTCOME FOR MENTORS:
– The chance to pass on all you have learned about good business to someone who will benefit from your experience.
– To practice your managerial skills and guide your mentee through a key stage in their career.
– A boost to your own career by adding mentor-ship to your skillset.
– You’ll learn as much from your mentee as they do from you.

IPN : Webinar on Saturday, March 16th – Post-University Preparedness Program

The Ismaili Professional Network (IPN) is pleased to announce the launch of the Post-University Preparedness Program (PUPP).
The program is designed to assist college students aiming to embark on a career in professional services, specifically in management consulting or investment banking (representative firms include, McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, etc.).
PUPP will host four training seminars from March to June 2019, with ongoing mentorship from individuals who are current or former professionals from these institutions.

The first webinar will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
The seminar will focus on helping students evaluate between professional services career alternatives.
