Bootcamp Overview
The Ismaili Professionals Network (IPN) in collaboration with South Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) is holding a Boot Camp for Ismaili Professionals (IPs) and SACC members who have an interest in starting their own professional ventures. The objective of the Boot Camp is to provide current or aspiring entrepreneurs with tools and knowledge to help transform ideas into reality.
This educational program will be structured as a startup pitch competition. Over a series of 4 weeks, participants will:

Form an entrepreneurial team and decide on a startup idea to pursue

Build the foundation of a business model on how to bring the idea to market including: market analysis, operational plan and financial plan

Engage with an experienced subject matter experts who will help the team focus on important areas of research and develop an investor presentation

Create an investor pitch and present in front of a group

Participate in full day workshop which features guest speakers and coaches

Mixer Panelists (October 8, 2016)
Faisal Bhutto is a Partner and the Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Computex Technology Solutions. He is responsible for all aspects of Computex’s national Cloud & Managed Services business. He also serves as the Chief Architect for the Advanced Technologies group setting the technology direction for next-gen Collaboration, Networking and Security practices. Previously, he was the Chief Operating Officer and part owner of ENETsolutions LLC, responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the company with primary focus on the technical and engineering operations. Faisal holds a B.S. in Mathematics and completed his Masters in Business Administration summa cum laude from University of Houston. He also holds the most prestigious networking certification in the industry known as CCIE.
Gaurav Khandelwal’s strong desire to help clients accelerate business has driven him to challenge the status quo in enterprise web and mobile applications. A visionary in mobile strategy and technology innovation, Khandelwal has focused ChaiOne to create engaging products internally and for clients. Khandelwal received the 40 under 40 Award in 2009, and has led ChaiOne to top 10 finishes from 2010-2012 in the annual Houston Business Journal Fast Tech 50. Khandelwal also operates a local coworking space called START www.starthouston.com START is Houston’s leading tech coworking space for web and mobile startups.
Samina Sadruddin is one of the co-founders of REAMERGE platform responsible for strategic direction and operations. She is passionate about combining technology with finance bringing creativity to the REMEARGE team. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), she has over 8 years of corporate as well as entrepreneurial experience in finance and risk management. Samina holds a BBA (Accounting and Finance) and M.S. Accounting from The University of Houston.
Luana Ramcharran is a Product Design Engineer based in Houston, Texas, and the founder of , LLC (also known as LRD). As one of the first Product Design Engineers in the Greater Houston area, Luana’s distinctive background has demonstrated success in product designs for medical devices, household goods, beauty products, consumer electronics, as well as graphic user interfaces in web and mobile applications. Her focused approach on user-centered design during the creation process of products takes people and culture into consideration first in order to implement designs. The results are everyday products that users can connect with on an emotional level. She enjoys working with entrepreneurs, startups, and companies who have challenging concepts, which she can then help turn into reality.

What is IPN BootCamp? | The purpose of each IPN BootCamp is to educate Ismaili Professionals (IPs) on all key aspects of starting a professional venture. This event will provide aspiring entrepreneurs with tools and knowledge to help transform ideas into reality through the process of collaboration, coaching and pitching. Additionally, this bootcamp will be held in partnership with South Asian Chamber of Commerce. This will give us the opportunity to network with more coaches, entrepreneurs, participants, and investors. |
Who is IPN BootCamp for? | IPN BootCamp is for those aspiring Ismaili Professionals who have an interest in starting their own professional ventures. Teams will be formed during the mixer on October 8 so teams can work together on an educational module on October 15 that takes the teams step-by-step in developing their idea into a pitch presentation. How long is the entire program? | The event will span 4-weeks. There will be a mixer on Oct 8 where participants will give an elevator pitch about their idea and form teams. Then the teams will submit executive summaries and if their idea qualifies they will qualify for the bootcamp. |
Does my team need to consist of only Ismaili Professionals? | Since we are partnering with SACC this year, a team must have 1 IPN or SACC member on the team for the team to qualify. |
Do I need to come in with an idea already in mind? | No, there will be an opportunity to be recruited onto a team during the mixer. |
When will IPN BootCamp take place? | The bootcamp will kick-off with a mixer on October 8 at Station Houston in Midtown. At the mixer participants will network, present ideas, and form teams. |
How do I apply and when is the deadline? | Interested members can sign up by following the “Apply Now” link at www.IPNBootcamp.com/Houston. Deadline to apply is October 5, 2016. |
How many spots are available? | Total of 15 teams will be selected for the bootcamp after mixer. Each team can have up to 4 members. |
Who can attend the 5-week bootcamp program after the mixer? | Total of 60 participants will be allowed. If there is any excess capacity after accepting 15 teams, other individuals will be invited. |
How are teams selected? | Teams will be formed on the day of the mixer. Individuals with ideas will present their idea with an elevator pitch. |
What is the cost of attending IPN BootCamp? | $25 per person. Mixer is free to attend but registration is still required. |
