Nausheen Husain

Data Reporter, Chicago Tribune

Nausheen has been a data reporter at the Chicago Tribune for four years, where she spends her time doing a mix of reporting, programming, and visual design work. She studied journalism and Middle Eastern studies at New York University, and data journalism and digital media at UC Berkeley. Her master’s project at UC Berkeley, islamforreporters.com, took a look at anti-Muslim hate crimes and commonly-misused vocabulary in news reports about Muslim communities. In her journalistic career, she’s covered everything from education in Oakland to transportation in Chicago; she’s recently been most interested in immigration and refugee reporting.
